MISSION AND VISION

 

CATFABS’ envisions itself to be the preferred source of healthy and clean, delectable but affordable cuisine from food service experts aptly trained and molded to possess the right knowledge, skills and character in the field of culinary arts.

 

 

CATFABS’ mission is to educate and empower people to discover their talents and use their profession with passion and deliver excellent service to gain total customer satisfaction.

 

CATFABS’ aims to establish a group of self-reliant, customer-oriented and competent individuals; able to be highly competitive both in the Culinary labor and entrepreneurship industry and to become instruments in reaching out to our less privileged brothers.

History

 

 

HRCAP & CATFABS

The HRCAP (Hotel and Restaurant Chefs Association of the Philippines), an organization created to recognize, enrich and consolidate the brilliance of Filipino Chefs, together with their President and Chairman, Chef Roberto P. Francisco whose personal drive and support is to mentor Filipino Chefs who are deprived of formal education attributable to poverty, aims to facilitate programs to produce World Class Filipino Chefs in the Food & Beverage Industry.

 

 

TESDA

The Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA), a government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development in the Philippines; created to encourage the full participation of and mobilize the industry, labor, local government units and technical-vocational institutions in the skills development of the country’s human resources.

One major thrust of TESDA is the formulation of a comprehensive development plan for middle-level manpower based on the National Technical Education and Skills Development Plan; this plan shall provide for a reformed industry-based training program that includes apprenticeship, dual training system and other similar schemes.

Background

The Center for Advanced Training in Food and Beverage Services (CATFABS) is a duly registered non-profit organization, which primary objective is to be the source of world-class Filipino men and women in the field of culinary, bartending and food service profession.

 

Through the new paradigm set forth by the present administration, a partnership has been created between CATFABS and the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Prior to this engagement, CATFABS has been in existence since September 2003 in effect of the Memorandum of Agreement signed by former TESDA Director General Lucit

 

The brainchild of a small group of chefs who have been pillars and significant influences in various hotels and restaurants, CATFABS was created through a common goal of uplifting the culinary profession in the country. Founded by its President and Chairman Chef Roberto P. Francisco, CATFABS serves as the mouthpiece of culinary practitioners. It also acts as the springboard for those who are determined to extract their talents in culinary as a sturdy source of living.

HRCAP, CATFABS & TESDA PARTNERSHIP

Through the new values set by the present administration, a partnership has been created between the Center for Advanced Training in Food and Beverage Services (CATFABS) and the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA); through CATFABS has been established on September 2003 through signed by former TESDA Director General Lucia S. Lazo and HRCAP President Roberto P. Francisco.

 

 

CATFABS, in its thrust to ensure that services rendered are in top quality, entered a partnership with TESDA to give quality trainings and other services to the public. CATFABS helps TESDA build up its capability to deliver updated training programs in culinary art, science and food service profession.

 

 

In their effort to set a standard in technical education, TESDA-CATFABS pursue ways to continuously evaluate and upgrade its facilities and training methods to be at par with the global trends in the culinary profession. TESDA-CATFABS envisions that producing skilled, knowledgeable and values-oriented workforce will be their humble contribution in strengthening the Food Service Industry and alleviating the employment challenges of the country.

Board of Directors

 

Chef Roberto P. Francisco

The former executive chef of Grand Boulevard Hotel; he has a total of 36 years of extensive experience in the industry. During his tenure as a pioneering management’s team member in his capacity as Executive chef in 1997 in Holiday Inn Resort Hotel, ClarkField, chosen as the “Best Upcoming Chef” Holiday International Worldwide (HIWW) in worldwide category in 1996-1997.

He was also the co – host of TeleKusina, shown every Sunday at 11AM NBN4 during 2002. Founder of HOTEL AND RESTAURANT CHEFS’ ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC. (HRCAP), mentor of the hopeless Filipinos Chefs who were deprived to acquired formal education due the family poverty problem. NCR TESDA Assessor and member of the Professional Curriculum Development Program Committee, instrumental in establishing CENTER FOR ADVANCED TRAINING IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES (CATFABS) and present President and Chairman of the Board.

 

 

 

Chef Roger C. Sumalpong

Chef Roger graduated from Pamantasan ng Makati, Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in English. He had previous work experience in sales before pursuing a career in the culinary industry. He started as Assistant Kitchen Laboratory Staff at CATFABS and trained how to perfect his skills and later he was promoted as a Laboratory Chef and Trainor. Presently, he is one of  the members of the Board of Directors of Culinary Arts and Food Provider Experts Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAFPE). Presently he is an accredited Trainor and Assessor of TESDA.

 

 

 

Chef Antonio R. Gantioqui

Chef Tony is presently the owner of Anton's Kitchen (T.R.G. Food and Catering Services) operating in San Fernando, Pampanga. Currently the Vice Chairman of Culinary Arts and Food Provider Experts Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAFPE) a cooperative formed by CATFABS graduates. He is also currently the Marketing Director of CATFABS.

 

 

 

 

Chef Armand P. Franco

Chef Toti, as he is fondly called by his peers, started his career as Sous Chef at Nook's Bar and Restaurant, New Jersey City, USA in 1994. Then worked as a Demi Chef at Paulanar Beer Hausen, Germany in 1999. And later as On-Board Chef at WG&A Superferry in 2005. Presently he is a Culinary Instructor at Lyceum-Batangas, Arellano University-Pasig, Smart Pro-Pateros and CATFABS-Taguig. He is considered as one of the most successful graduates of CATFABS.

 

 

 

Chef Heidee C. Francisco

A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Saint Scholastica’s College Manila. Right after the graduation she was hired at Orchid Hotel as Accounts Sales Manager and worked as a Store Manager at Delifrance. She is presently the Training Program Director of the newly opened CATFABs-Pasay Branch.
